02/07/2025 Chaz Williams Reviews: THE NIGHT CREW by Brad Ricks

Writer's picture: Candace NolaCandace Nola

“They could've been neighbors who also happened to work for the funeral home. Coincidences did happen. Just because they happened to be sitting at a bus stop downtown in front of my hotel staring in my direction as I ate breakfast didn't mean anything. I felt my paranoia getting the better of me and needed to stop.” “Again, no one is following you.”

Vampire stories are probably the most used, and honestly, the hardest books to write nowadays. It seems like every troupe you can use for a vampire story has been attempted and to keep readers engaged and interested you really need to bring something to the table that is either unique or will suck the reader in and not let them go.

The Night Crew by Brad Ricks is a prime example of strong storytelling and giving the reader a plot that will grab attention with the pacing and action needed to make not want to stop.

Retired Sergeant Michael White lives a quiet and pleasurable life with his wife Brittany until one fateful night when she is killed by a mysterious figure that he was unable to stop when returning home late one night.

Her death leads Michael on a journey of revenge that brings to light not only that there are vampires in the world but also a secret group of hunters known as The Night Crew who hunt down these monsters. What Michael doesn’t realize is that this monster that took his wife is a blast from the past that he is unaware of and is hell bent on taking Michael for himself.

I highly recommend checking this book out, it will be available on 2/18/25 and I look forward to reading Brad’s other books because he has a fresh voice, and his style of writing is right up my alley!
