Hello, my spooky friends. Welcome to October and our favorite season! Also, I am back to normal scheduled programming with novels, novellas, anthologies, and collections.
So, no more time to waste. This week we hear stories from Chesterfield, get lovesick with Triana, find some sinister shenanigans, and finish with our heads blown.
Let’s get into them.
TALES FROM CHESTERFIELD
By Zach Martin
Zach, Zach, Zach. You shouldn’t keep this collection? Novella? Pure bliss of a story to yourself!
Small towns are creepy but Chesterfield takes the cake. Our narrator will entertain us as we try to figure out a way back where we came from. Only our way may have a bump or two in the night.
What a world Martin built! Not only is this seventy-two pager scary as hell but even more, it’s funny. Honestly, I wish I could have hung out with the narrator a bit longer and heard more about tales of the town. Maybe, just maybe, we can get a sequel? hint, hint. nudge, nudge.
Definitely an author to keep our eyes on because I feel like in 2025 we will be hearing more about him.
A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND - 5/5.

BECAUSE YOU’RE MINE
By Kristopher Triana
When I saw Triana bill this as a “dark romance” I thought, “I better check this one out.” Not shocking to any of his fans, he was right on the money.
Bryan’s mom is pretty much an invalid and add to that she’s a hateful bitch at times. While in the hospital, he meets one of his mother’s nurses, Shelby. Not only do they immediately connect, but share a wicked, dirty hobby. Alternating between each of them being the teacher and student, more than a love of learning will transpire.
Hands down, my new favorite by Kris. Something about the depravity of these characters mixed with their feeling of not being alone in the debauchery makes these two the new Mickey and Mallory.
A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5/5.

HELPMEET
By Naben Ruthnum
Holy fart, Batman. HELPMEET is insane. Part historical fiction, part body horror and supernatural-ish but all creepy as hell.
Edward is a doctor and a bit more. When he starts losing his body parts (penis, nose, eyes, etc.), he has to stay on the morphine. His wife Louise, is a damn saint. She knows more than she lets Edward realize until it is time for all the secrets to come out. Edward doesn’t want to die in Manhattan so they travel to Buffalo to his childhood home and wait for a visitor to end the secrets.
Absolutely impressive. Victorian in feel, eerie in atmosphere, with body horror to really take it over the top. These characters are some of the most impressive I have read in a long time. They are flawed, unreliable, and at times, full on garbage.
A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5/5.
