Today's breakdown is for the audiobook of "Darkness and Dawn" by Terry Hooker:
The young woman in this one gets sent off to find a husband but the journey on the ship to get to her marriage destination is more than it seems. It soon spirals to be a story about witchcraft vs vampirism that of course has a love story element to it, but thankfully it wasn't overdone and served the tale at hand.
The pace of this book kept me engaged. I'd check out more from the author based on this one.
The audio portion was narrated by Gillian Wiggin who really made the story feel alive and like a proper retelling. I felt more like I was listening to a play rather than a book. I thought that the narration made it a more compelling read.
4/5 stars.
