Today's breakdown is for the audiobook of "Undertaker's Moon" by Ronald Kelly:
This being my first RK attempt, I knew from the prologue that it was my type of Horror. It was thrilling from the first sentence, and it didn't let up for a single moment as it is full of twists and death. I did feel like the ending was a bit simpler than I expected, but the epilogue made up for it as it expanded what I hoped it would. Fine characterization and a great tale of bloodthirsty beasts, this was a good indicator of the ability that this author has to unravel a solid plot. I'll end this review as I began it by stating that from page one, I knew I was reading an incredibly gifted writer and that was an inevitable feeling that kept up throughout. If you aren't reading Ronald Kelly, then you are committing the grandest act of self-disservice.
The audio portion was narrated by J. Rodney Turner who really made it feel like an authentic folktale being told. His voice and delivery was perfect to enhance the story with an old-timey atmosphere. Mr. Kelly couldn't have chosen a more suitable narrator to compliment this riveting Werewolf story.
4/5 stars.
