Hello, my Sunday friends! (You are the other days of the week, but we don’t get to bond over reviews but on Sunday.) This week we go human trafficking, learn how to write book reviews like a pro, get a bit of revenge on some people, and learn about nipple belts.
Do I deliver or do I deliver? Enjoy! And I will see you here next week.
Let’s get into them…
AIN’T WORTH A SHIT
By Jack Bantry and Robert Essig
Mark likes to smoke some weed. Then he sells it. Then something bad happens and life turns to well, shit. Issy is living a quiet life with her boyfriend. Some old “friends” find her. Then bad things happen. Oh, and there’s a gimp.
The story was engaging and keeps you reading. The problems are there is so much repetition within the story and it’s a bit too rushed. I didn’t feel as connected to the characters as I would have liked and I know I could have if certain plot points were expanded on.
I still recommend the story for those who are just starting out in the genres or would like a quick read with some pretty cool twists. 3.5/5.
A REVIEWER’S GUIDE TO WRITING BOOK REVIEWS: And How to Get Paid for Them
By Rick Hipson
Release July 26th
Wow! I wish I had this before I started writing love letters to Simon McHardy and Sean Hawker in which I told them how they were ruining my brain. But what I didn’t have, you now have and it’s a freaking gem!
Hipson takes our hand, pats it, and leads us slowly but not in a demeaning way through the process of writing a book review. With his personal examples, past mistakes/rewards, and stylistic humor, he makes the task seem not as daunting. With so many reviewers out there, how can you make yourself stand out? How can you out write them to review glory? All you have to do it buy and read this book.
Seriously though, it’s stellar. It’s accessible, to the point, and has so many different sections to it (how to get ARCs, emailing publishers, even how to use TikTok!). There is something in here even for the seasoned review veterans.
A DOUBLE HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/5.

IMPULSE
By Megan Stockton
Does this sweet lady, who probably hands out the full-sized candy bars, know torture or does she know torture? Spoiler: she does.
Jason is a dirty old man who preys upon young girls as a teacher. Every four years his mistakes in judgement leave and with that fresh meat. It was going swell until he picks up a hitchhiker and things get… well, bloody. Sassy and Baby have a bone to pick and it’s not his. nudge nudge.
Stockton got me a few times. When I thought she was going to go left, she went sideways. Right? Upside down. She’s crafty as she is a genius author. While a little more girl powerish than I typically read, this one has something extra to it and I loved that.
A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5/5.
DID YOU HEAR WHAT EDDIE GEIN DONE?
By Harold Schetcher and Eric Powell
Did you know that Ed Gein made belts out of nipples? Well, you learn all kinds of interesting trivia in this graphic novel.
Starting before Gein was born, the reader is on a journey that leads to the depravity he unleashes on his small town. From his mother wanting a girl, to his father losing his will to live let alone wanting to stay sober around the wife, to Ed losing his brother, and going through to his death.
What’s most fascinating is how his mother controlled with such an iron fist and Ed still loved and literally worshipped her. For it to be in black and white, there are some brutally graphic scenes.
A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5/5.
